Join us and share the excitement and festivities at the 20th anniversary of Salmon Arm’s last BC Festival. Meet and welcome dancers and treat the world to the wonders of some of Canada’s greatest vacation destinations.

Sponsored by the BC Square & Round Dance Federation, BC Festivals are held every two years.  Each new festival is hosted by a different region in BC. 

BC Festival 2019 is hosted by two regions, the Thompson-Shuswap and the Okanagan Square & Round Dance Associations.  By combining the efforts of two regions, we make the most of the additional knowledge and experience of festival volunteers and coordinators.

How do these regions benefit? There will be 700 to 800 dancers coming  to Salmon Arm from July 10th to 14th, 2019. Visiting dancers are encouraged to extend their trip for a fantastic holiday in the Okanagan and the Thompson-Shuswap. What better way to showcase BC’s beautiful interior!

Not only are we hosting dancers from across Canada and beyond, we are inviting the local communities to join us for the fun and excitement coming once again to Salmon Arm in the summer of 2019.   We offer dances and complimentary workshops as well as vendor’s booths and community information.

The BC Square & Round Dance Federation and Associations are nonprofit organizations. As such, we rely on membership dues and outside funding in order to provide and operate a healthy, active environment for socializing and for exercise.

As you can imagine, hosting a festival of this magnitude has a huge overhead. Although our callers and cuers volunteer their time and resources to provide the talent that is needed for a successful festival, there are numerous additional expenses. The greatest of these are rental of venues for different levels of dance, flooring and advertising.

Over the last few years, we have seen festivals limited to 800 dancers or less but, as Salmon Arm has the necessary facilities, we have decided not to cap this festival.  In order to accommodate this many dancers, we have reserved the entire Shaw Centre, the curling rink, the Recreation Centre’s auditorium and room at Okanagan College. Many of these facilities must be booked for the entire five days of the festival and the combined rentals exceed $35,000.  We look to you, our sponsors, to assist with this major undertaking.

This is truly a blind auction. Those interested in an item purchase tickets and then deposit them in the container provided. The ticket drawn is the successful winner of that item.

Random items will be auctioned each day.
